Walls, ceilings, trim and doors painted with careful prep and clean lines. Your rooms look fresh again.
Highpoint Painting offers interior painting in Tucson for walls, ceilings, trim and doors. Your rooms likely need new paint when scuffs will not wash off, colors look faded near windows, or caulk has cracked along the trim. The sheen you pick and the prep under the paint decide how long the job lasts. We give free estimates.
If a touch-up dries as a shiny or darker patch, the whole wall needs a new coat. Painters call this flashing. It happens because old paint ages and changes, so fresh paint from the same can will not match. Small dings? Those can blend. A patch the size of your hand on a flat wall in good light will show. Other signs point to a full repaint too: grime that comes back right after washing, white trim that has turned yellow, and fading where sun hits the wall every day. A color change needs at least two coats. Going from dark to light often needs a primer first.
Flat paint hides wall flaws best, but it is the hardest finish to scrub clean. That makes it a good fit for ceilings and quiet rooms like a guest bedroom. Eggshell has a soft glow. It wipes clean better and works well in living rooms and halls. Satin takes more scrubbing, so many people use it in kids rooms and laundry rooms. Semi-gloss is tough and easy to clean, which is why it is the usual pick for trim and doors. The trade-off is simple. The shinier the paint, the more it shows every bump and patch under it.
Paint that peels in sheets usually went over a dusty, greasy or glossy surface. New paint needs something to grip. A common failure is water-based paint brushed right over old oil-based trim. Here is a quick test you can do. Rub the trim with a cotton ball soaked in rubbing alcohol. If paint comes off on the cotton, it is water-based. If nothing happens, it is likely oil-based and needs a bonding primer before new paint goes on. Bubbles in a bathroom often mean moisture. Fix the fan or the leak first, or the new paint will fail the same way. In older homes, old layers may hold lead paint, so test before anyone sands.
Paint colors change with the light in each room. A sample that looks warm in the store can look gray on a wall that never gets direct sun. Paint large samples on two or three walls. Look at them in the morning, at night and with your lamps on. Ceilings look darker than the same color on a wall, so many people go a shade lighter up top. Trim and walls look best with clear contrast in sheen, even when the color is close. If you are also redoing the outside, see our exterior painting page so the two can work together.
