Renovation projects for homes and businesses, finished with fresh paint so the space looks done.
Highpoint Painting offers renovations in Tucson. In any remodel, paint is one of the last steps, and the order of work decides how good it looks. Painting before flooring, trim or fixtures are done often means scuffs and redo work. Plan the paint stage early so colors and finishes fit the whole project.
Paint usually goes on after messy work like sanding, cutting and tile, but before final fixtures and covers go back on. Dust is the enemy. Paint that goes on while other trades are still sanding will trap grit in the finish. The usual order inside a room is ceiling first, then walls, then trim and doors. Flooring is the tricky one. Some people paint before new floors go in so drips do not matter, then touch up the baseboards after. Others install floors first and protect them well. Both work. Just decide before the job starts.
Patched walls, bare wood and new materials soak up paint unevenly, so they need primer before color. Skip it and the patches show through as dull or shiny spots, even after two coats. New wood trim may also have knots that bleed through light paint. A stain-blocking primer stops that. In older homes, any sanding or demo on old painted surfaces should start with a lead test.
Pick paint colors after you choose counters, floors and tile. Paint comes in far more colors than stone or tile, so it is easier to match paint to them than the other way around. Bring tile and counter samples home and look at them next to paint samples in the room itself. Light changes everything. For kitchens and baths, choose a sheen that can be wiped clean, like satin or semi-gloss. If your remodel includes the kitchen, our cabinet painting page covers when to paint the cabinets you have instead of replacing them.
Many renovations need a city building permit, especially work that changes walls, wiring, plumbing or the roof. Painting alone usually does not. Rules differ by city, so check with your local building department before work starts. Your HOA may have its own rules for outside changes. Arizona requires many contractors to be licensed by the Registrar of Contractors. Highpoint Painting is a Licensed Arizona contractor, ROC #353460.
